Toenail fungus can be really embarrassing to have but it can also be quite nasty too. It can affect one toenail and quickly move onto the others if you don’t treat it fast enough. If you are unfortunate to have it yourself, there are ways to help remove it. But even if you don’t have it, you should be aware of ways to prevent it from occurring. We’ll share tips for both below:
Toenail Fungus Removal Tips
Cut Your Toenails – If you happen to notice you have fungus underneath one of your toenails you should immediately cut that toenail as short as you can without it being painful. This will prevent the breeding of the fungus so it doesn’t spread as easily or get worse. Actually it’s a good idea to trim your toenails regularly anyway.
Soak Your Feet – The next thing you need to do is soak your feet for at least 20 minutes a day. The key is to use vinegar or even Listerine in with the water. These will help to kill off the bacteria causing the fungus. This might take some time to take effect but should eventually reduce the fungus.
Toenail Fungus Prevention Tips
Preventing the fungus from occurring is easier than treating it. Here are some tips to help you do that:
Avoid Going Barefoot – Toenail fungus can spread from one person to another just by coming into contact. So the least amount of time you spend barefoot, the less chance you have of catching the fungus on your feet. This is especially important in places like the swimming baths or showers.
Keep Your Feet Dry – Fungus spreads faster when it is in a moist area. So whenever you take a shower or bath, always dry your toes properly. Also avoid wearing socks in bed as this can make your feet sweat.
Toenail fungus removal might take you a little time but it is something you should always work towards otherwise the problem will just get worse.
