A toenail fungal infection can strike without any warning. You might notice one day that your toenail is changing color and it is only then you realise that you have the infection. It can be really embarrassing to have it to, especially if you ever have to expose your feet in a public place.
Even the idea of going to the beach or even for a swim when you have a toenail fungal infection leaves many people frustrated because of the embarrassment. And to make matters worse, it can take months of treatment to get rid of the infection completely.
So as you can see, having toenail fungus is some thing that should be prevented at all times. There are several things you can do to help and to make sure it doesn’t set in and start to thrive on your toes.
The first thing is to make sure your toenails are kept dry at all times. If they are damp then that is the ideal conditions for a fungus to grow. So if you go for a run or do some exercise, be sure to change your socks or take them off completely and allow your feet to dry. This is the same for night time too, don’t wear socks in bed as your feet will sweat whilst you are sleeping.
Another thing to be aware of is that the infection can be passed around very easily. So if you do have to expose your feet in a public place, always be sure to wear sandals or flip flops. Going barefoot is just asking to pick something up.
By following these simple tips, you can prevent yourself from getting a toenail fungal infection. Treating it can take months and involve a lot of embarrassment, so preventing the infection is always recommended instead.
