It is summer and that means sandal-wearing weather. Wearing sandals displays your toes, which is great unless your toenails are infected with unsightly toenail fungus. Before you resort to tossing away all your sandals and refusing to go barefoot, here are some tips to help clear up that toenail fungus.

Try these natural cures for foot fungus you can do at home.

1. Don’t try and hide the infection with nail polish painted over the nail. This can actually trap moisture in and under the nail; consequently, it will make the infection worse. However, it is important to keep your toenails trimmed in a straight line and use a file to smooth the edges.

2. Natural oils have been found to help with toenail fungus. Tea tree oil is a natural fungicide and antiseptic. Rub it into the nail every day with a cotton swab. Some have found mixing it with an equal part of Lavender oil helps it work even better. In addition, Oregano essential oil works as an analgesic, antiseptic, and anti-fungal remedy, but it shouldn’t be used for more than three weeks. Two drops of Oregano oil to one tsp. of olive oil applied daily has been shown to treat toenail infection.

3. Another such home remedy is soaking your toes in Listerine mouthwash. Just be sure when you are finished soaking to dry your toes completely. You don’t want any moisture left on your toes.

However, these home remedies don’t always work, so if you are looking for the real deal toenail fungus cleaner, an excellent and highly recommended cure is Zetaclear(read my review of it here). It works in under a week and is one of the most powerful non prescription solutions available.
